Mainstream.....started in the seventies as a renewal movement within the
Baptist denomination. Having seen its original vision largely
fulfilled, Mainstream is now developing as a movement of leaders
and churches committed to seeking God as we stand alongside one
another to share in God's mission in the world. We are a home to
churches and church leaders both within and beyond the
Baptist Union. We believe
there is a wealth of experience and wisdom amongst us that can
help us all express mission effectively.
Mainstream values are expressed in.....
being committed to Word and Spirit
connecting leaders and churches for mission
equipping leaders to fulfil their God-given potential
equipping leadership teams to catch the vision and
engage in mission
equipping churches by offering teaching and prophetic
input
Mainstream has a passion to facilitate......
local groups of like minded leaders
clustering of churches that are one in Spirit and
purpose
cross-church projects and partnerships for mission
motivation and training of young leaders
working together to share vision and resources
regional get-togethers to supplement the local groups
connecting of specialist functions such as youth
workers, children's workers and pastoral workers
teaching and prophetic input to church weekends and
Christian holiday weeks
Mainstream identifies four focal points of urgency in
God's mission -
1. Apostolic Ministry.....
As Mainstream Network Minister, Rob White
with his wife Marion
has a national apostolic ministry. They are part
of a wider apostolic team, some working nationally, some
locally, all focused on offering their gifts and experience to
pursue the vision of Mainstream described above. Read more about how
some of the team see their role in
apostolic ministry.
2. Local groups of leaders.....
Like minded leaders meeting locally together to:
build mutually affirming relationships
pray and seek the mind of God together
minister to and encourage each other
share experiences and resources
3. Inspiring Events.....
The Mainstream Conference
is held annually at Swanwick, Monday to Wednesday in the second
week of January.
Other national events are organised from time to time
Some regional Mainstream groups organise Theology Days
and Leadership Days.
4. Relevant Communication.....
Regular email updates share news and comment to build
the reality of the network
Occasional printed publications provide a platform to
stimulate debate and encourage leadership teams to consider
vital issues
